FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
LASER HAIR REMOVAL

Using gentle light pulses of laser, this is one of the safest and most effective procedures for permanent reduction of unwanted hair on the face and body. This treatment is effective with most skin types.

Traditional hair reduction methods -- shaving, waxing, tweezing and creams -- are all time consuming and short lasting. Until recently, the only effective method for hair reduction was electrolysis, a slow and painful process in which follicles are individually destroyed by electrical current. Since 1995, however, lasers have proven to be effective in providing fast and long-lasting hair reduction.

How does hair removal work?

A pulse of laser light penetrates into the skin and delivers the energy at the root of the hair, destroying the hair follicle while protecting the surrounding skin.

What areas can be treated?

All areas of the body can be treated for both men and woman, except around the eyes.

What are the benefits of Laser Hair Removal?

Many people have experienced great benefits from permanent hair reduction with laser hair removal. Women who have been waxing for years can finally quit spending money every few weeks. Men with wild or erratically growing hairlines can stop having the weekly neck trim and those with difficulty shaving under the chin finally have some relief.

How long does the procedure take?

It depends on the area being treated. It will take typically up to 15 minutes to treat the underarms and up to an hour for legs.

Is it painful?

While some areas can be more sensitive than others, most individuals describe the feeling as a slight stinging or tingling sensation. If needed, clients can also request a topical anesthetic to be applied prior to treatment.

How many treatments are required?

Hair grows in multiple cycles, therefore, several treatments are necessary. The number of treatments depends on type of hair and location, roughly 5-8 treatments. Treatments are usually performed 4-8 weeks apart.

Are there any side effects?

Side effects are minimal and are generally limited to a slight redness of the skin which should not persist for more than a few hours.

Do you have to shave prior to treatment?

The area of treatment needs to be shaved, no plucking or tweezing.

Is it permanent?

Once you have completed a full series of treatments, you should see a permanent reduction of hair for life. However, there are variables such as hormones, medication, ethnicity, metabolism and certain genetic factors that may affect permanent hair reduction.
